General Purpose:
Perform direct resident care duties under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel. Assist with promoting a compassionate physical and psychosocial environment for the residents.
Essential Job Functions
This facility expects employees to promote teamwork and comfort for residents. Duties include:
- Providing personal care (e.g., grooming, bathing, dressing, oral care) daily and as needed.
- Changing bed linens and maintaining supplies.
- Ambulating and transferring residents with assistive devices and proper body mechanics.
- Recording vital signs, weights, measurements, intake/output, and food consumption.
- Turning and positioning residents regularly.
- Monitoring residents and reporting changes to Charge Nurse.
- Supporting residents' ability to make choices within caregiving constraints.
- Assisting in data collection for the MDS and care plan, and providing input to nurses.
- Ensuring residents are adequately hydrated.
- Preparing residents for meals and transporting them, ensuring accessibility and assistance as needed.
- Keeping accurate records of food intake/output.
- Assisting with aseptic and sterile techniques to prevent infection.
- Monitoring environment for proper ventilation, temperature, lighting, and noise.
- Taking vital signs and measurements as directed.
- Responding promptly to call lights and resident needs.
- Using proper body mechanics during resident handling.
- Assisting in staff orientation and training.
- Participating in in-service education.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and confidentiality.
- Protecting residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
- Maintaining housekeeping standards and adhering to attendance policies.
- Performing other duties as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
CERTIFIED:
- Current Nursing Assistant Certification from the state.
- CPR Certification.
- High School Graduate or GED.
OR
NON-CERTIFIED:
- Attending a CNA class, with a maximum of four months of non-certified work.
- Organized, detailed, with good communication skills and patience.
- Genuine interest in elderly and disabled individuals.
- Compliance with residents' rights and facility policies.
- Ability to perform physical tasks as outlined.
Working Conditions
