JOB SUMMARY

The Certified/Nursing Assistant at Duke Cardiology of Raleigh/Morrisville plays an essential role in the healthcare team by providing direct patient care and supporting administrative functions. The role involves assisting with patient examinations, documentation, and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Administrative duties: Manage medical records, answer calls, greet patients, schedule appointments, handle correspondence, and assist with other administrative tasks. Respond to medical assistant work-ques and monitor the in-basket pool.
  2. Clinical duties: Room patients, document vital signs and health history, perform EKGs, apply and educate about cardiac monitors, provide POC testing for anticoagulation, and other clinical tasks as assigned.
  3. Stocking and cleaning patient areas as needed, maintaining required training.
  4. Transport patients via wheelchair to hospital admissions or ER as directed.
  5. Assist in imaging and other clinical areas when necessary.
  6. Prepare the clinic for daily operations and pre-visit work.
  7. Participate in committees and clinic projects as assigned.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a Level I Nurse Aide program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or successful completion of the NC Nurse Aide I competency test.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Currently listed as a Nursing Assistant I with the Division of Facility Services, with no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud, neglect, or misappropriation.
  • BCLS certification must be maintained or completed during the first week of employment.
