Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide patient care across units, ensuring safety and quality. You will respond to call lights, document care, and maintain clean environments while supporting monitoring, catheter care, and basic procedures under RN supervision.

Training is available for new tasks and there is opportunity for precepting new partners. Required CNA certification with CPR/BLS within 90 days; CNA program completion is essential; strong teamwork and

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care per scope, standards, and policies.
  • Responds to call lights promptly and documents care provided.
  • Maintains clean patient environments and supplies.
  • Precepts new partners in collaboration with unit educator.
  • Operates telemetry or bedside cardiac monitors and reports findings.
  • Manages and reports collection devices and catheter outputs.
  • Assists with bladder scanning, NG tubes, Foley catheters, and drains as directed.

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.

- Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner .

- Documents care provided according to standards.

- Maintains a clean work and patient environment.

- Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or d amaged supplies.

- Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs.

- Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.

- Training/precepting new partners in collaboration with unit educator

- Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel

- Bladder scanning procedure reviewed

- Bladder scanner training complete (check off sheet for competency)

- Attaching patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor

- Managing and reporting collection devices:

- Colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems: care and output measures

- Indwelling catheters: care and output measures

- Nasogastric tubes to suction

- Surgical drains under direction of supervising RN

- Competent in completing vital signs: Manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN

- Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN:

- Indwelling (Foley) catheters

- Nasogastric tubes

- Peripherally inserted intravenous catheters

- Similar devices as appropriate

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Completion of a CNA program.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Current CNA certificate in applicable state .

Approved CPR or BLS certification requi red within 90 days .
