Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) specializing in Dementia Unit care for a contract position at a skilled care facility in Queens, NY. This part-time role features evening shifts and every-other-weekend scheduling.

Candidates must hold a NY CNA license, have completed approved CNA training, and possess at least 1 year of relevant experience caring for residents with dementia.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant training program.
• Active New York State CNA license.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a nursing home or hospital.
• Experience caring for residents with dementia/cognitive impairment.
• Basic patient care protocols and dementia-specific care techniques.
• Must be immune to Hep B.
• Flexible schedule and availability every other Saturday/Sunday.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with ADLs tailored to dementia residents.
• Monitor and report changes in residents' conditions to the nursing team.
• Ensure safety and comfort during evening shifts; respond to call lights.
• Apply dementia-specific care techniques to reduce agitation and promote engagement.
• Maintain accurate documentation according to facility policies.
• Assist with mobility, transfers and positioning to promote independence.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and keep the environment safe.

Position Overview:

Qualifications:

  • The schedule and shift assignments are subject to change based on the operational needs of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding, specifically tailored to residents with dementia.
• Monitor and report changes in residents' conditions, including vital signs, behavior, and overall well-being, to the nursing team.
• Ensure resident safety and comfort during evening shifts, responding promptly to call lights and resident needs.
• Implement dementia-specific care techniques to reduce agitation, promote engagement, and maintain a calm and supportive environment.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning to prevent injury and promote resident independence.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents and staff.
