Job Overview
Under immediate supervision, performs vocational and behavioral therapy specialist work of routine difficulty; and performs related work as required. An employee in this role works at a developmental center or community home providing vocational, habilitation training, therapy, and supervision for intellectually and developmentally disabled clients.
Follows the individual support plan to ensure that the needs and active treatment requirements of persons served are met.
Communicates with families, conservators, employers of persons served, and the public to share information and meet active treatment requirements.
Analyzes medical treatment and training data to detect changes in needs, behavior, and abilities.
Analyzes environmental data to ensure safety and appropriate environment for persons served.
Promotes teamwork and collaboration among staff.
Trains other staff on active treatment interventions to meet the requirements of individual support plans.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Graduation from high school and at least one year of full-time work experience in teaching, business sales, marketing, or providing services for disabled persons.
Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional college or technical coursework with at least nine quarter hours in education, social or behavioral sciences, industrial arts, nursing, or mental health or human services from an accredited institution may substitute for the required experience.
