Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) for PRN shifts on the LAN MedSurg unit. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the CNA/PCT performs multi-skilled patient care duties and supports the nursing team to meet basic needs and safety.

Responsibilities include assisting with hygiene, dressing, mobility, linens, transport for tests, and meal service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a CNA program within 6 months is preferred if not already certified.
• Preferred to be currently registered as a Certified Nurse Assistant; must be current on Nurse Aide Registry if certified.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing team with patient care and related services for personal needs, comfort and safety.
• Aids with hygiene, dressing, mobility, linen changes and transportation to tests.
• May serve meals, provide between-meal nourishment and record vital signs under nurse direction.
• Performs duties under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Job Description

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CNA/PCT performs multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification in caring for the patient.

Assists nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients. Assists patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking. Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures. May serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment. May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse.

PRN Status Clause:

This is a PRN as-needed position, you must be available to work at least 12 hours bi-weekly, as needed according to departmental demands. You may be required to work additional hours if requested by your supervisor to accomplish work objectives. Work hours may vary (increase or decrease) depending on the needs of the unit.
