Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina in Lancaster seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) / Patient Care Technician (PCT) for PRN coverage. You will work under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing multi-skilled patient care tasks and assisting with personal needs and safety.

Responsibilities include helping with hygiene, mobility, linens, and transport to tests, plus documenting vital signs as directed. BLS and SC CNA registry awareness are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a CNA program within 6 months preferred if not certified.
• Preferred to be currently registered as a Certified Nurse Assistant in SC; must be current on Nurse Aide Registry if certified.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Job Description

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CNA/PCT performs multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification in caring for the patient.

Assists nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients. Assists patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking. Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures. May serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment. May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse.

PRN Status Clause:

This is a PRN as‑needed position, you must be available to work at least 12 hours bi‑weekly, as needed according to departmental demands. You may be required to work additional hours if requested by your supervisor to accomplish work objectives. Work hours may vary (increase or decrease) depending on the needs of the unit.
