Job Summary:

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Certified Nurse Assistant for our Med Surg Unit located within Dearborn Hospital.

Hours/Shift: PRN, Any shift

The Certified Nurse Assistant provides direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of an RN or LPN. Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing personal care and comfort, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for an assigned group of patients.

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in every encounter with patients, families, visitors, and staff, regardless of cultural background.

• Provide general patient care such as bathing, mouth care, peri-care, dressing, and bed-making.
• Position patients, assist with mobility, and use special equipment as needed. Support bowel and bladder functions and ambulation.
• Assist with meals, record intake and output, and ensure proper documentation.
• Follow directions accurately and collaborate effectively with team members.
• Develop skills in patient care procedures, charting, and regulatory compliance.
• Attend educational programs and mandatory in-service days to maintain certification and learn new procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

• Certified Nurse Assistant in the state of employment.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Completion of state-approved CNA courses.
• Successful completion of the CNA exam.
• Not listed on the State Abuse Registry.
• CPR certification for professional rescuer.

Specialized Knowledge:

• Basic mathematical skills.

Experience:

• Relevant work history preferred.
