TIME TYPE: PART TIME (2, 12 Hour shifts per week mandatory)

Shift Details: PART TIME (2, 12 Hour shifts per week), ROTATING

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assist patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization.
  2. Perform basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedure to promote patient health and wellness.
  3. Provide for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
  4. Perform administrative support functions.
  5. Maintain necessary skills and competencies.
  6. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Position Compensation Range: $15.37 - $23.82 Hourly

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • No experience required
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required
  • Certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in Virginia OR meet one of the following criteria:
  1. Successful completion of the UVA PCT Education Program OR another approved PCT Education Program.
  2. Documented proof of at least 1 year of recent (within past 2 years) experience in a similar PCT role, with successful completion of a written exam and clinical skills demonstration during a 6-month probationary period.
  3. Passage of a nationally recognized and accredited PCT Certification exam (e.g., National Healthcareer Association - C-PCT). Present Certificate as verification.

OR meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Currently enrolled student nurses who have completed Medical/Surgical Clinical Experience and Didactic coursework are exempt from the Nurse Aide requirement.
  2. EMT or above certification; candidate will complete UVA PCT Course within 6 months.
  3. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Physical Demands: Job requires frequent bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail; ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs and >100 lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases.
