Eastern Iowa Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Patient Care Assistant (CNA) to support patients in daily living activities and rehabilitation goals. The role is PRN and based in Coralville, IA, requiring Iowa CNA certification and high school equivalency.

BLS/CPR is preferred, with emphasis on teamwork and compassionate care. Responsibilities include vital signs, mobility assistance, and collaboration with nurses and therapists to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Iowa required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred.
• Previous healthcare or rehabilitation experience preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills.
• Ability to safely lift, transfer, and assist patients with mobility needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
• Monitor and report changes in patients' condition to nursing staff.
• Obtain and document vital signs, weights, intake and output, and other patient care data.
• Assist patients with mobility, transfers, ambulation, positioning, and ROM exercises.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient care environment.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transportation of patients as needed.
• Support rehabilitation goals by encouraging patient participation in therapy and daily activities.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and call lights while providing exceptional customer service.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other team members.

How You'll Contribute

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.

• Obtain and document vital signs, weights, intake and output, and other patient care data as directed.
• Assist patients with mobility, transfers, ambulation, positioning, and range-of-motion exercises.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient care environment.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transportation of patients as needed.
• Support rehabilitation goals by encouraging patient participation in therapy and daily activities.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and call lights while providing exceptional customer service.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Ensure infection prevention and safety protocols are consistently followed.
• Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and their families throughout the rehabilitation process.
