Good Samaritan Society in Rapid City, SD, is seeking a Medication Assistant to provide resident-centered nursing care under a charge nurse. This role involves daily living assistance, vital signs, and administration of prescribed medications within state scope of practice.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, CMA/CNA certification as applicable, and a commitment to continuing education. Night shifts, 12-hour, full-time with a 36-hour week are available at the facility.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age 18; prior clinical or nursing assistant experience preferred.
• Complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits; minimum 12 hours annually based on state requirements.
• Maintain department-specific certifications and, where applicable, a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
• Iowa CMA/CNA certification; Minnesota Nursing Assistant Certification; North Dakota CMA/CNA certification; South Dakota CMA certification as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision.
• Monitor and record vital signs; report changes to charge nurse.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated and per state regulations.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Support mobility through transferring, repositioning, and ambulation as appropriate.
• Assist with meals, hydration, and nutritional supplementation as needed.
• Contribute to a positive dining experience and wound-care or other tasks as assigned.
• Support and document participation in wellness and recreational activities.
