Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Encourages and models a team approach to provide excellent care and services.
• Reports safety hazards to maintenance, security, RN Care Coordinator or Nursing Supervisor immediately.
• Administers scheduled medications per policy and procedures.
• Administers select PRN medications only after nurse authorization.
• Communicates concerns to the staff nurse regarding resident care.
• Measures and records blood pressure and pulse as prescribed.
• Follows unit nurse directions and communicates with residents and staff.
• Maintains confidentiality of resident and organizational information.
• Follows infection prevention and hazardous waste procedures.
• Participates in in-service education to increase knowledge and skills.
• Adheres to CNA job description when not administering medications.
• Strives for optimal use of supplies within budget.
• Complies with policies including attendance and uniform.
• Follows policy for Medication Assistant parameters.
• May perform CNA duties when scheduled as Medication Technician.
• May work CNA shifts if Medication Technician hours are unavailable.

About the Role

A Certified Medication Assistant administers, and records select medications to residents. Performs general nursing assistant duties.

Responsibilities

• Encourages and models a team approach to accomplish the Luther Manor Mission of providing excellent care and services to our customers.
• Reports potential/actual safety hazards to Maintenance, Security, RN Care Coordinator or Nursing Supervisor immediately.
• Implements correction actions as able.
• Administer scheduled medication prescribed for routine administration according to medication administration policy and procedures.
• Administers select PRN medications only after the nurse has authorized the administration.
• Communicate with the staff nurse any concerns related to proper care of the resident.
• Take and record blood pressure and pulse as indicated in conjunction with prescribed medications.
• Follow directions given by unit nurse and communicate effectively with residents and staff.
• Work effectively and cooperatively as a team member with all disciplines.
• Follow established infection/exposure control procedures, hazardous waste policies and procedures.
• Participates in In-service educational programs to increase knowledge and skills.
• Adhere to the nursing assistant job description when not administering medications.
• Strive for optimal use of supplies, materials; keeping in mind cost and budget limitations.
• Maintain confidentiality of all residents, departmental and organizational information.
• Comply with policies and procedures including attendance, uniform, etc.
• Follows established policy for Medication Assistant / Tech Parameters.
• May be required to perform duties as set forth on the CNA job description during a shift scheduled as Medication Technician.
• May be required to work shifts as CNA on a given shift where Medication Technician hours are not available, or offered the option to go home if staffing levels permit.
• Other duties as assigned.
