Good Samaritan in Howard, SD is seeking a Medication Assistant to provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse.

The role includes assisting with bathing, meal support, vital signs, and documenting care, while maintaining a safe, respectful environment and participating in wellness activities. Part-time schedule with a focus on compassionate elder care.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually based on state requirements.
• Maintains all department specific required certifications. When applicable, may need a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
• For all Good Samaritan and Sanford nursing facilities: Must have the state required certified/trained medication aide certification (CMA or TMA). Active certified nursing assistant registration in state of practice, or ability to obtain within 120 days, is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision of a charge nurse.
• Administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Communicates changing condition, medication follow-up and care-related concerns to the charge nurse.
• Assists with daily living activities and basic health care needs, including vital signs and documentation.
• Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents and supports wellness/recreational programs.
