Good Samaritan in Canistota, SD is seeking a Medication Assistant (MA) to provide resident-centered nursing care under a charge nurse. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vitals, and help with meals, documentation, and care planning in a senior care setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly competency testing and maintains CE credits (12 hours annually).
• A valid driver’s license and auto insurance may be required where applicable.
• Iowa: CNA certification with State Board of Nursing; CMA course after CNA.
• Minnesota: CNA with 75-hour course registered; CMA course.
• North Dakota: CNA with state certification; CMA course as applicable.
• South Dakota: CMA certification maintained with State Board of Nursing.
• For all Good Samaritan facilities: CMA or TMA certification; active CNA registration or ability to obtain within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the charge nurse supervision.
• Assist with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and daily living activities.
• Obtain and record vital signs and monitor resident condition.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse within scope of practice.
• Assist with meals, hydration, and providing a positive dining experience.
• Document care outcomes, medication administration, behavior, and activities; communicate changes to the charge nurse.
• Assist with transfers and mobility using proper techniques and equipment.
• Provide housekeeping and laundry services as needed to keep living areas clean.
• Promote wellness and participate in recreational programs and committees as needed.
