Job Summary

Performs technical duties in patient care, assisting with cleanliness, grooming, rest, activity, nourishment, and medication distribution. Supports professional staff in maintaining a safe therapeutic environment.

Essential Job Functions

1. Collects, reports, and documents vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
2. Performs and reports Point of Care Testing.
3. Assists with patient activities and care as assigned, following the patient's plan of care.
4. Provides personal hygiene care, wound care, skin care, and assists with elimination and ostomy care.
5. Assists with feeding, ambulation, positioning, and turning of patients.
6. Supports patient safety, including restraints, safety precautions, and emergency data collection.
7. Interviews incoming patients, completes screening forms, and records necessary data.
8. Maintains a safe environment, manages medications and supplies, and ensures drug room security.
9. Enters medication compliance data into pharmacy systems.
10. Maintains patient confidentiality and practices cost containment.
11. Organizes work to meet deadlines and promotes positive relationships.
12. Participates in training, maintains compliance with standards, and performs related duties.

Work Environment

• Located in a clean, safe medical facility within a correctional environment.
• Conditions may include noise, odors, cramped spaces, and physical effort, including lifting over 50 lbs.
• Requires alertness, attention to detail, and the ability to work under stress and possibly extended shifts.
• Potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials.

Minimum Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Texas Certified Medication Aide permit.
