What does the Certified Medication Aide do?

You will be providing medication services and direct resident care to our residents, assisting in medication distribution, maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment, and being part of a high-performing care team. Additionally, you will assist residents with activities of daily living, housekeeping, laundry, and other daily chores.

In this job, every day you will…

  1. Manage the daily operation of the medication room and medication services as directed by the Director of Nursing (SNF) or Health Services Director (AL), in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and the nurse practice act.
  2. Process physician medication and treatment orders following regulations and acts.
  3. Administer and assist with self-administration of routine and non-routine medications according to physician orders and regulations.
  4. Report and document changes in resident condition, incidents, and accidents to the appropriate authorities and family as directed.
  5. Communicate routinely with physicians, pharmacies, outside services, residents, and families regarding medication and care services.
  6. Provide direct resident care, promoting dignity, independence, and choice, while observing and reporting any changes in residents’ physical and mental conditions.

Education & Experience required:

  • High school diploma or GED, with one or more years of personal care experience with older adults preferred or required by state regulations.
  • State-required medication pass certification or equivalent, along with completion of delegation, training, and competency assessments.
  • Current CPR certification, First Aid training, and Food Handlers permit as mandated by state regulations.
  • Completion of all necessary state-required training.
