Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your job position is to assist in the administering of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing Services. The administration shall be in accordance with established nursing standards, policies, procedures, and state requirements.
Education
Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Must be a licensed Certified Medication Aide who has completed a state-approved training program and passed the necessary examinations.
Job Functions
- Follow policies and procedures for medication administration.
- Note and report errors in medication administration.
- Assist in developing procedures to prevent medication errors.
- Complete administrative forms, reports, and charts as required.
- Maintain good relationships with staff, physicians, and pharmacists.
- Report resident complaints or grievances.
- Participate in facility inspections and surveys.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information and report violations.
- Report any unauthorized access attempts or incidents of fraud.
- Log off unattended workstations and activate password-protected screens.
