Job summary

REGENCY IHS CLINICAL CONSULTING LLC is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications. You will monitor vital signs, observe reactions, report to the charge nurse, and maintain MAR documentation.

The role includes assisting with daily care tasks and ensuring medication areas are clean and compliant with regulations. Experience in healthcare and completion of state-approved Medication Aide training are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training.
• Good standing in the state registry is required.
• Preferred one year of healthcare experience.
• Knowledge of Universal Precautions and Blood Borne Pathogen rules.

Responsibilities

• Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations and company policy.
• Takes and records vital signs prior to administration.
• Observes and reports reactions or side effects to medications to the charge nurse.
• Documents administered medications in the resident's medication administration record (MAR).
• Administers oxygen in emergencies and notifies the licensed nurse, with appropriate documentation.
• Applies ophthalmic, otic, nasal, and vaginal medications as ordered.
• Assists with daily care tasks: bathing, feeding, dressing, mobility, and responding to calls.
• Keeps nursing station, medication room, and supply room clean and organized.

Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Certified Mediation Aide will prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per protocolEssential FunctionsAdministers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with company policy and procedure.Observe and report to the facility's charge nurse reactions and side-effects to medication shown by a residentTake and record vital signs prior to the administration of medication which could affect or change the vital signsReports to charge nurse and documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.Administer regularly prescribed medication which the permit holder has been trained to administer only after personally preparing (setting up) the medication to be administeredThe medication aide will document the administered medication in the resident's medication administration recordAdminister oxygen per nasal canula or a non-sealing face mask only in an emergency; immediately after the emergency, the medication aide shall verbally notify the licensed nurse on duty or on call and appropriately document the action and notification.Apply specifically ordered ophthalmic, OTIC, nasal, and vaginal medicationBe able to accurately follow all principals of good medication administrationAssist in customary daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, care of hair, nails, moving residents from area to area, responding to calls, etc., which includes lifting, transferringHelps charge nurses with the cleanliness of the nursing station, medication room and supply room.Educational/Training RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent is preferredLicensing RequirementsSuccessful completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program.
