Job summary

Regency Integrated Health Services is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per protocol. You will observe residents for reactions, record vital signs, and escalate concerns to the charge nurse.

The role includes helping with daily care tasks and maintaining cleanliness of the medication and nursing areas, while complying with universal precautions and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • State-approved Medication Aide Training and competency evaluation; good standing in state registry required.
  • Preferred one year of previous health care experience.
  • Knowledge of Universal Precautions and Blood Borne Pathogen rules.

Responsibilities

  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with company policy and procedure.
  • Observe and report to the facility's charge nurse reactions and side‑effects to medication shown by a resident.
  • Take and record vital signs prior to the administration of medication which could affect or change the vital signs.
  • Reports to charge nurse and documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.
  • Administers regularly prescribed medication which the permit holder has been trained to administer only after personally preparing the medication to be administered.
  • Documents the administered medication in the resident's medication administration record.
  • Administers oxygen per nasal cannula or a non‑sealing face mask only in an emergency; immediately after the emergency, the medication aide verbally notifies the licensed nurse on duty or on call and appropriately documents the action and notification.
  • Applies specifically ordered ophthalmic, otic, nasal, and vaginal medication.
  • Accurately follows all principals of good medication administration.
  • Assists in customary daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, caring for hair and nails, moving residents from area to area, responding to calls, including lifting and transferring.
  • Helps charge nurses with the cleanliness of the nursing station, medication room, and supply room.
