Job summary

Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Wesla is seeking a Certified Mediation Aide to administer prescribed medications and monitor residents under state regulations. You will record vital signs, report reactions, and maintain MAR documentation while assisting with daily resident care and ensuring clean medication and supply areas.

Mandatory credentials include State Approved Medication Aide Training and competency evaluation, with good standing in the state registry.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program.
  • Good standing in the state registry is required.
  • Experience with universal precautions and infection control is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations and policy.
  • Observe and report medication reactions or side effects to the charge nurse.
  • Take and record vital signs prior to medications that could affect vitals.
  • Document administered medications in the resident's MAR.
  • Administer oxygen in emergencies and notify the licensed nurse.
  • Apply ophthalmic, otic, nasal, and vaginal medications as ordered.
  • Assist with daily living activities and resident care tasks as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the nursing station, medication room, and supply areas.

Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Certified Mediation Aide will prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per protocolEssential FunctionsAdministers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with company policy and procedure.Observe and report to the facility's charge nurse reactions and side-effects to medication shown by a residentTake and record vital signs prior to the administration of medication which could affect or change the vital signsReports to charge nurse and documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.Administer regularly prescribed medication which the permit holder has been trained to administer only after personally preparing (setting up) the medication to be administeredThe medication aide will document the administered medication in the resident's medication administration recordAdminister oxygen per nasal canula or a non-sealing face mask only in an emergency; immediately after the emergency, the medication aide shall verbally notify the licensed nurse on duty or on call and appropriately document the action and notification.Apply specifically ordered ophthalmic, OTIC, nasal, and vaginal medicationBe able to accurately follow all principals of good medication administrationAssist in customary daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, care of hair, nails, moving residents from area to area, responding to calls, etc., which includes lifting, transferringHelps charge nurses with the cleanliness of the nursing station, medication room and supply room.Educational/Training RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent is preferredLicensing RequirementsSuccessful completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program.
