Job summary

Sylvan Shores Health & Wellness is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to join our compassionate care team. The CMA will support residents by ensuring medications are administered accurately and on time under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.

Responsibilities include documenting care, monitoring drug effects, and communicating changes to the licensed nurse. We offer strong benefits and a supportive work environment in a skilled nursing setting in Texas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified Medication Aide in the State of Texas is required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Texas is required.
• CPR certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain report from the licensed nurse and verify medication administration details.
• Administer medications accurately and timely following physician orders.
• Monitor residents for drug effects and report adverse events to the licensed nurse.
• Document patient care related to medication administration and monitoring.
• Follow infection control procedures and store medications properly.

We are looking for skilled CMA's (Certified Medication Aide)to become part of our facility's compassionate care-giving team! The CMA willsupport the community by ensuring residents are well cared for and receive accurate medications as ordered by the physician/physician extender in accordance with established nursing standards, standards of medication aide practices, state and federal requirements, and guidelines of the community related to medication administration.

Responsibilities

• Obtain report from licensed nurse/CMA being relieved and recordsufficientinformation related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.
• Administer medications to residents in an accurate, timely manner to include, but not limited to, correct resident/correct medication/correct dose/correct route/correct time.
• Observe residents for effectiveness of drug therapy and occurrence of adverse effects. Report immediately to licensed nurse.
• Document resident cares related to medication administration, related monitoring, and report to the licensed nurse any occurrence of observed adverse effects/change in resident's condition.
• Notify licensed nurse of observed changes in residents’ conditions, medication errors, medication not available, and any otherobservations.
• Perform duties of Certified Nurse Aide as assigned.
• Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident’s needs and his/her comprehensive assessment as assigned.
• Participate in Community education programs.
• Promptly report observed changes in residents’ conditions to the licensed nurse.
• Respond to residents’ call for assistance promptly.
• Verify accuracy of narcotic count; check emergency kit and exchange keys.
• Obtain in-service hours required.
• Observe infection control procedures.
• Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
• Store medications accurately and appropriately, monitor drug expiration dates and follow process for destruction.

Qualifications

• Enjoy working in a skilled nursing facility setting, eager to improve and continuously learn new skills
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with physical capability to perform job-related duties
• Validated ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner
• Prior experience in a healthcare environment (minimum of 1 year); preferably in long term care
• Willingness to enforce health and safety standards
