Job summary

Sylvan Shores Health & Wellness in Texas is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to join our compassionate team. The CMA will support residents by administering medications as prescribed, following nursing standards and state guidelines, and collaborating with licensed staff to ensure safe, accurate care.

This full-time role requires a Texas CMA certification and CNA certification, with a preference for CPR.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• TX CMA certification and TX CNA certification required.
• CPR preferred but not mandatory.
• 1 year healthcare experience preferred, long-term care ideal.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications accurately and timely per orders.
• Record medication administration and report changes to licensed staff.
• Observe for drug effects and adverse reactions, notify nurse.
• Follow infection control procedures and safety guidelines.
• Assist CNA duties as assigned and support resident care plans.

We are looking for skilled CMA's (Certified Medication Aide)to become part of our facility's compassionate care-giving team! The CMA willsupport the community by ensuring residents are well cared for and receive accurate medications as ordered by the physician/physician extender in accordance with established nursing standards, standards of medication aide practices, state and federal requirements, and guidelines of the community related to medication administration.

Responsibilities

• Obtain report from licensed nurse/CMA being relieved and recordsufficientinformation related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.
• Administer medications to residents in an accurate, timely manner to include, but not limited to, correct resident/correct medication/correct dose/correct route/correct time.
• Observe residents for effectiveness of drug therapy and occurrence of adverse effects. Report immediately to licensed nurse.
• Document resident cares related to medication administration, related monitoring, and report to the licensed nurse any occurrence of observed adverse effects/change in resident's condition.
• Notify licensed nurse of observed changes in residents’ conditions, medication errors, medication not available, and any otherobservations.
• Perform duties of Certified Nurse Aide as assigned.
• Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident’s needs and his/her comprehensive assessment as assigned.
• Participate in Community education programs.
• Promptly report observed changes in residents’ conditions to the licensed nurse.
• Respond to residents’ call for assistance promptly.
• Verify accuracy of narcotic count; check emergency kit and exchange keys.
• Obtain in-service hours required.
• Observe infection control procedures.
• Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
• Store medications accurately and appropriately, monitor drug expiration dates and follow process for destruction.

Qualifications

• Enjoy working in a skilled nursing facility setting, eager to improve and continuously learn new skills
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with physical capability to perform job-related duties
• Validated ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner
• Prior experience in a healthcare environment (minimum of 1 year); preferably in long term care
• Willingness to enforce health and safety standards

Must-Haves for Role
