Emerald Healthcare & Rehab Cozad is seeking a dedicated Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our nursing team. This FT role involves administering medications, monitoring resident health, and maintaining accurate documentation in our clinical setting.

You will work with a supportive interdisciplinary team in a skilled nursing facility, adhering to safety standards, using EHR systems, and communicating clearly with residents and families. Training and scheduling flexibility are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required.
• CMA certification required by New York HERE regulations (as stated in job posting)

Responsibilities

• Medication Administration: administer prescribed medications per physician orders and facility protocols with accurate documentation.
• Resident Monitoring: observe and document changes in residents' conditions and report to supervising nurse.
• Health and Safety Compliance: keep medication area clean and follow infection control procedures.
• Resident Support: provide compassionate assistance respecting residents' needs and preferences.
• Communication: collaborate with nurses, doctors, and other professionals and inform families as needed.
• Documentation: complete medication administration records and health observations per policy and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

• Medication Administration: Accurately administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with facility protocols and physician orders. Ensure proper documentation of medication administration and report any discrepancies or issues to the supervising nurse.
• Resident Monitoring: Observe and document changes in residents' conditions, including vital signs and any adverse reactions to medications. Communicate observations and concerns to the nursing staff and assist with any necessary follow-up actions.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean and organized medication storage area. Follow infection control procedures and safety protocols to ensure a hygienic and safe environment for residents.
• Resident Support: Provide compassionate and respectful assistance to residents, addressing their needs and preferences while fostering a supportive and empathetic atmosphere.
• Communication: Collaborate with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans and ensure that residents' needs are met. Communicate effectively with residents' families regarding medication-related concerns and changes in health status.
• Documentation: Accurately complete all required documentation, including medication administration records, resident health observations, and incident reports. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional relevant training or coursework in healthcare or medication administration is a plus.
• Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a skilled nursing facility or similar environment, is preferred but not required.
• Certifications: Current certification as a Medication Aide (CMA) as required by New York HERE regulations.
• Communications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals and build positive relationships with residents and their families.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and transfer residents as needed, and to perform tasks that require physical stamina and endurance.
