Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Physicist to join the East Texas Physics POD (Longview/Tyler/Palestine). You will work with four other physicists and six dosimetrists to support clinical physics across the region.

The ideal candidate holds a CAMPEP‑accredited degree and residency, ABR certification or in process, and a Texas license, with strong communication skills and a solid background in SRS, SBRT and HDR procedures.

Qualifications

Graduate from a CAMPEP‑accredited residency program.

Overview

Texas Oncology is searching for a Certified Medical Physicist to join our East Texas Physics POD (Longview/Tyler/Palestine). The Medical Physicist will be actively working with 4 other physicists and 6 dosimetrists in the region.

Equipment

within the East Texas POD consists 7 Varian Linacs, (2-TrueBeam, 1-Halcyon, 4 2100 C-Series). The region also operates 2 active HDR programs, via Nucletron afterloaders. Planning and verification systems include: Eclipse, BrainLab, VariSeed, Oncentra, Aria, Radformation, and RadCalc. With this level of technology there are few special procedures that are not offered. Programs include: SBRT, SRS, HDR, LDR, and radiopharmaceuticals. Texas Oncology also provides many vendor webinars, its own journal club, and the opportunity to serve on many company-wide physics committees.

The candidate should have a MS or PhD degree in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two to five years' experience in radiation oncology physics. The candidate should have a current ABR certification or in the process of obtaining certification (completed part 1) and maintain a valid Texas state license for medical physics as required.

Responsibilities

Preferred Experience:

Working knowledge of Varian linear accelerators as well as Varian VariSource\Bravos HDR afterloader
Working knowledge of Eclipse and Brachyvision
A working knowledge of MOSAIQ Radiation Oncology Information System
Working knowledge of HDR, SBRT and SRS procedures
Working knowledge of Radiation safety

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must have the ability to utilize components of the treatment-planning computer including but not limited to the use of keyboards, digitizers, trackball and mouse controls. Must be able to stand for 8 hours; lift 40 pound block to shoulder level; have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish structures and isodose displays on computer monitor. Additionally, must be able to align treatment field and monitor patient during radiation therapy treatment.
