Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Physicist to join our East Texas Physics POD serving Longview, Tyler and Palestine. The candidate will collaborate with four physicists and six dosimetrists to uphold high-quality radiation therapy.

A CAMPEP‑accredited MS or PhD is required, with ABR board certification (or in process) and eligibility for a Texas medical physics license. This on-site role emphasizes safety, QA, and clinical physics support.

Overview

Texas Oncology is searching for a Certified Medical Physicist to join our East Texas Physics POD (Longview/Tyler/Palestine). The Medical Physicist will be actively working with 4 other physicists and 6 dosimetrists in the region.

Equipment

Within the East Texas POD consists 7 Varian Linacs, (2-TrueBeam, 1-Halcyon, 4 2100 C-Series). The region also operates 2 active HDR programs, via Nucletron afterloaders. Planning and verification systems include Eclipse, BrainLab, VariSeed, Oncentra, Aria, Radformation, and RadCalc. With this level of technology there are few special procedures that are not offered. Programs include SBRT, SRS, HDR, LDR, and radiopharmaceuticals. Texas Oncology also provides many vendor webinars, its own journal club, and the opportunity to serve on many company-wide physics committees.

Candidate Requirements

The candidate should have a MS or PhD degree in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two to five years’ experience in radiation oncology physics. The candidate should have a current ABR certification or in the process of obtaining certification (completed part 1) and maintain a valid Texas state license for medical physics as required.

Preferred Experience

• Working knowledge of Varian linear accelerators as well as Varian VariSource\\Bravos HDR afterloader


• Working knowledge of Eclipse and Brachyvision


• A working knowledge of MOSAIQ Radiation Oncology Information System


• Working knowledge of HDR, SBRT and SRS procedures


• Working knowledge of Radiation safety

Duties Will Include

Additionally, must be able to align treatment field and monitor patient during radiation therapy treatment.
