Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Physicist to join the East Texas Physics POD (Longview/Tyler/Palestine). You will collaborate with 4 physicists and 6 dosimetrists to deliver high-quality patient care using advanced radiotherapy techniques.

Required credentials include CAMPEP-validated degree and residency, ABR certification or ongoing, and Texas licensure eligibility. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and strong communication within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP accredited program.
  • CAMPEP residency completion or in progress.
  • ABR board certification or in the process of obtaining certification.
  • Texas license eligibility.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full on-site clinical medical physics support at the primary clinic.
  • Work with a team of physicists and dosimetrists in the region.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Overview

Texas Oncology is searching for a Certified Medical Physicist to join our East Texas Physics POD (Longview/Tyler/Palestine). The Medical Physicist will be actively working with 4 other physicists and 6 dosimetrists in the region.

What is the Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP)?

Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP): is an incentive program that typically vests over a three-year period and is tied to both individual performance and the operational success of Texas Oncology. Awards are discretionary and based on your position, performance, and potential for future career growth at Texas Oncology. Awards are reviewed and approved during the annual compensation review. Equipment

Within the East Texas POD consists 7 Varian Linacs, (2-TrueBeam, 1-Halcyon, 4 2100 C-Series). The region also operates 2 active HDR programs, via Nucletron afterloaders. Planning and verification systems include: Eclipse, BrainLab, VariSeed, Oncentra, Aria, Radformation, and RadCalc. With this level of technology there are few special procedures that are not offered. Programs include: SBRT, SRS, HDR, LDR, and radiopharmaceuticals. Texas Oncology also provides many vendor webinars, its own journal club, and the opportunity to serve on many company-wide physics committees.

Preferred Experience
  • Working knowledge of Varian linear accelerators as well as Varian VariSource\Bravos HDR afterloader
  • Working knowledge of Eclipse and Brachyvision
  • A working knowledge of MOSAIQ Radiation Oncology Information System
  • Working knowledge of HDR, SBRT and SRS procedures
  • Working knowledge of Radiation safety
Duties Will Include
  • Full range of on-site clinical medical physics support at your primary clinic
Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Medical physics from a CAMPEP accredited program
  • Graduate from a CAMPEP accredited residency program
  • ABR board certification or in the process of obtaining certification (e.g. new resident graduate)
  • Eligibility for a Texas license
  • Strong organization and oral\written communication skills
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must have the ability to utilize components of the treatment-planning computer including but not limited to the use of keyboards, digitizers, trackball and mouse controls. Must be able to stand for 8 hours; lift 40 pound block to shoulder level; have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish structures and isodose displays on computer monitor. Additionally, must be able to align treatment field and monitor patient during radiation therapy treatment.
