Job summary

Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health seeks a Certified Medical Coder to support Oyate Health Center's Accounts Department. You will convert medical diagnoses, supplies and procedures into standardized codes used for insurance claims, ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid and private payer rules.

Responsibilities include abstracting information, applying ICD-10, CPT-4 and HCPCS guidelines, ensuring accurate principal diagnoses and procedures, and collaborating with providers and billing staff

Qualifications

• HIPAA and HITECH knowledge are required.
• Knowledge of medical records requirements and functions.
• ICD-10, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding guidelines knowledge.
• Accurate abstraction of information to reflect comorbid conditions.

Responsibilities

• Code diagnoses and procedures from medical records.
• Ensure accuracy of principal diagnosis and procedures.
• Document orders to reflect medical necessity.
• Maintain complete and accurate records and signatures.
