Job summary

AHIMA seeks a skilled Coder to certify accurate billing for professional services and hospital procedures. You will review clinical encounters, confirm correct diagnosis and procedural codes, apply modifiers and CCI edits, and educate providers to ensure proper medical record documentation.

The role requires staying current with billing guidelines, using coding software, and collaborating with clinicians to maximize reimbursement while maintaining compliance in a hybrid Washington State setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• AAPC certification preferred (CPC).
• One year coding experience in a healthcare setting preferred; knowledge of coding guidelines and payer requirements is expected.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical encounters to ensure proper submission of services prior to billing.
• Apply modifiers and CCI edits and verify accuracy of diagnoses and procedures.
• Educate providers on coding rules and documentation requirements.
• Stay current with general billing guidelines and payer publications; participate in audits and process-improvement initiatives.
