Job summary

Harris Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for the Harris Pulmonary practice. This full-time position offers a Monday–Friday, 8a–5p schedule and a $2,500 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment.

You will support patient assessments, basic diagnostics, documentation, and clerical duties to ensure high-quality care in a growing pulmonary and sleep medicine team in Sylva, NC.

Qualifications

• Current state certification as a CMA or registered medical assistant.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
• Previous medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessments and treatments under provider supervision.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection; monitor changes in patient condition.
• Document patient care and maintain examination areas.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, stock, clean, troubleshoot.
• Perform administrative duties including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and registration.
• Complete other tasks as delegated by leads or Market Director.

We invite you to become part of our growing Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine specialty practice. Our close-knit team currently consists of three dedicated providers who are deeply passionate about caring for patients with respiratory conditions and sleep disorders.

As we continue to grow, we are actively recruiting additional providers to help expand access to high-quality, compassionate care within our community. Our practice includes a satellite clinic and strong collaboration with our sister facility located just 30 minutes away, allowing for continuity of care and a supportive professional network.

How you'll contribute

A Certified Medical Assistant who excels in this role:

• Under the supervision of provider, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communication regarding changes in patient condition.
• Documents patient care given.
• Maintains examination areas.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Completes other tasks, within scope of position, as delegated by the practice leads, supervisors, managers or Market Director.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state certification as a certified or registered medical assistant and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 90 days of hire.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, required
• Previous medical office experience, preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred.
