JOB SUMMARY

Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a health system medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the office runs smoothly.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist medical and nursing staff with tasks such as taking medical histories and recording vitals.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Perform phlebotomy and manage lab supply orders.
• Authorize drug refills as directed.
• Telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy.
• Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program recognized by CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA is required.
• BLS certification required.
