Job summary

Duke Primary Care in Durham, NC seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to be an integral member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team. You will perform routine patient care and administrative duties to support physicians and nurses in a busy clinic.

Responsibilities include taking histories, recording vitals, preparing patients for exams, collecting samples, and assisting with procedures while ensuring accurate documentation and smooth clinic operations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred; high school or GED required for Levels I-IV.
• Levels II-IV require graduation from a CMA program accredited by respective bodies; BLS required at each level.

Responsibilities

• Take medical histories and record vital signs; explain procedures to patients.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; assist medical and nursing staff.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens; perform basic lab tests in clinic.
• Assist with medication administration and prescription requests as directed by physician.
• Greet patients, schedule appointments, handle billing and referrals; maintain patient records.
