JOB SUMMARY

Works under the general supervision of a physician and/or nurse to provide clinical support to physicians and nurses in the delivery of patient clinical care and administrative support.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 1 year of patient care experience in a physician office practice or completion of Medical Assistant training
  • Licenses and Certifications: BLS certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire; Medical Assistant certification through recognized certifying bodies such as CMA, RMA, NRCMA, NCMA, NHA-CCMA, or RMA, obtained upon hire
JOB DUTIES
  • Take, record, and report patient vital signs; perform procedures such as visual acuity, musculoskeletal screening, POC testing, phlebotomy, EKG, and other diagnostic testing.
  • Escort or transport patients; document care tasks; reinforce education provided by physicians or nurses.
  • Prepare exam rooms; facilitate diagnostic equipment use; ensure availability of patient information.
  • Monitor autoclave temperature, POC testing QA, and conduct audits as directed.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new staff; assist in their integration.
  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, precertification, and answering patient calls.
  • Inspect equipment and facilities for safety and functionality.
  • Verify patient consent and authorization forms for research or treatment.
  • Maintain skills through training and participate in competency reviews.
  • Manage supplies; provide supervision to support personnel as needed.
  • Perform core functions related to patient care and record management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
