Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Medical Assistant Certified (MA) to support examinations, procedures and patient care under the direction of clinical leadership. The role includes assisting providers, performing clinical tasks, and handling administrative duties in accordance with CLIA, HIPAA and hospital policies.

The position requires patient-focused, compliant care and the ability to schedule appointments, verify eligibility, and ensure medical necessity for services.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent education (GED, homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
• Two years of Medical Assistant experience in a clinic/outpatient setting or one year in the Novice-II position

Responsibilities

• Assist in examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatments and dressing changes under direct supervision.
• Provide general administrative support consistent with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA and company policies.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify medical necessity and eligibility for care.
• Maintain patient records and documentation in EMR with attention to accuracy and privacy.
