Job description

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a qualified Certified Medical Assistant in Somerville, NJ. The role involves performing clinical tasks such as EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal nurse assistance training program
  • At least six months of experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • CMA Certification
  • BLS Certification from AHA

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift
  • Per Diem Schedule

Essential Functions:

  • Support practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, preparing lab requests, and other assigned clerical duties
  • Communicate with insurance providers, handle pre-authorizations and certifications as needed
  • Prepare rooms, arrange instruments and equipment, and maintain a clean and sanitary environment
  • Room patients, verify patient information, confirm visit purpose, obtain and record vitals, and update medical history
  • Communicate with patients and providers as instructed by the overseeing physician or health practitioner
  • Create and maintain health records, file and organize documents as needed
