Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified Certified Medical Assistant in Somerville, NJ. The Certified Medical Assistant will perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completion of a formal Certified Medical Assistance program
  • At least six months experience

Preferred:

  • Experience with or interest in LGBTQ+ health highly preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • CMA Certification
  • BLS Certification from AHA

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift, 40 hours/week
  • Full-Time Schedule

Essential Functions:

  • Works as a member of the healthcare team to promote continuity of patient care with the providers
  • Assures that medical assistance is promptly and readily available when needed by the healthcare providers
  • Administers medication, support and educate patients with injection training, handles prior authorizations, and assists providers as needed
  • Prepares patients for provider examination and informs patients of the process and what to expect
  • Compiles and records pertinent patient data for office visits and follow up patient care in EMR
  • Uses EMR for office communication
  • Maintains competency in medical assistant skills through continuing education
  • Keeps personal learning records and competency documents up to date
  • Assures organization and cleanliness of and maintains stock items in the office, lab, the examination rooms and procedure rooms
  • Discreet handling of confidential information A flexible, rotating schedule to include some evening hours as dictated by patient volume, physician availability and practice expansion
  • Train new staff and create a productive medical practice team
  • Treats all patients with respect, dignity, compassion and concern
