Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Multiple medical assistant certifications accepted (RMA, CMA, NRCMA, CCMA, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect information on chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation.
• Handle telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities.
• Gather and maintain patient information per department policies.
• Perform patient check-in and check-out.
• Complete prior authorizations for medications and procedures.
• Schedule appointments and verify insurance benefits.
• Coordinate referrals and diagnostic testing.
• Assist with office procedures and department-specific duties.
• Assist with urine catheterizations, bladder scanning, sutures/staples removal, and cast care as directed.
• Read TB skin test results and escalate positives to nursing staff.
• Perform point-of-care diagnostic testing.
• Provide patients with written instructions and education materials.
• Administer medications per orders and handle refills per protocol.
• Document patient interactions in the EMR.
• Maintain exam rooms and supply areas; track expiry dates.
