Job summary

Springfield Clinic is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support physicians, optometrists, NP/PA, and nursing staff in direct and indirect patient care. You will organize records, take vital signs, assist in exams and procedures, and coordinate referrals and tests.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program as required by certifying body.
• CPR certification required within 30 days of hire date; CMA/NCMA credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing the nursing station and work area to facilitate workflow.
• Organize all written medical information for physician/nurses review and place in the record in correct order; proofread dictation.
• Answer phones for physician, nurse and receptionist; schedule appointments efficiently.
• Open mail and distribute, file information, organize written communications.
• Order office and medical supplies; stock exam rooms; maintain Infection Control policies.
• Interview patients to determine chief complaint and document in medical records.
• Take vital signs and document results; assist with office procedures under supervision.
• Order diagnostic tests as directed; prepare patients for exams and provide home-care instructions.
• Give medications as directed; assist with immunizations under supervision; determine insurance pre-certifications/referrals.
• Provide patient education and reinforce teaching under provider direction; call in prescriptions as required.

Education

High School graduate or GED

Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program
