Job summary

Springfield Clinic is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support physicians, optometrists, NP/PAs, RNs and LPNs in direct and indirect patient care, lab procedures, charging and medical records.

Responsibilities include organizing the nursing station, managing medical records, answering phones, scheduling, assisting in exams, taking vital signs, and supporting various procedures under supervision. CPR certification within 30 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program.
• Maintain CMA/RMA/NCMA credentials.
• Must be a registered or certified Medical Assistant through listed bodies (AMT, AAMA, NCCT, NHA, AAH, NAHP).
• CPR certification per American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing the nursing station and work area for workflow efficiency.
• Organize medical information for physician/nurses and file in order.
• Answer phones for physician, nurse and receptionist.
• Schedule appointments according to patient needs.
• Order office and medical supplies and stock exam rooms.
• Take vital signs and document results.
• Assist with office procedures under supervision (e.g., sterile urine cath, suture/staple removal).
• Prepare patients for exams and provide home care instructions under provider direction.
• Call in prescriptions and coordinate with pharmacies under provider direction.
• Maintain compliance with clinic policies and HIPAA requirements.
• Provide excellent patient service and adhere to the clinic's Code of Conduct.
