Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the team at University Hospital in Louisville. The role covers triage, history intake, vitals, and EHR documentation to ensure accurate patient records and smooth workflow.

You will assist physicians in the exam room, perform injections, schedule appointments, and help with insurance authorizations while maintaining HIPAA compliance and a clean, organized care environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Medical Assisting Degree is preferred.
• Certification as CMA/CCMA/RMA or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Obtains medical history and triages patients.
• Records vitals and reconciles medications in the EHR.
• Responds to tasks promptly and reports abnormal results to the physician.
• Ensures patient information is scanned into the EHR.
• Assists physicians in the exam room, including minor procedures.
• Coordinates surgery/test scheduling and admissions.
• Codes diagnoses and procedures for insurance authorizations.
• Explains procedures to patients and families.
• Maintains clean exam rooms and manages supplies.
