Job summary

Milton Hershey School is seeking a part-time Certified Medical Assistant to join our Health Services team serving PreK–12 students in a 40-bed Health Center and school-based clinics.

The role includes assisting with admissions, discharges, and transporting students to off-campus appointments, with shifts from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on a rotating weekend/holiday schedule. Competitive hourly pay and benefits apply.

Qualifications

  • Certification from a state-approved Medical Assistant training program or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of nursing aide care experience in a hospital, clinic, or residential facility.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • OSHA trained blood-borne pathogens.
  • Ability to lift and assist injured students.
  • Commitment to high-quality care for children and youth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist registered nurses to provide health care to students in a 40-bed Health Center and school clinics.
  • Assist with admissions and discharge procedures and transport students to off-campus appointments including emergency visits.

The unique and child-centered structure of MHS’s Health Services programs enables nurses to focus where their heart is – on student/patient care. We have on campus a 24/7/365 health center facility with 40-bed infirmary and 3 school medical clinics with state-of-the art equipment. At MHS, we seek to educate the whole child. We care about providing comprehensive health and wellness programs for our students. These include free medical, dental & psychological care. We are seeking a part-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join the growing team. The CMAs assist the registered nurses to provide high quality health care to students from PreK – 12 grades in a 40-bed Health Center and in the school-based clinics. This includes assisting with admissions & discharge procedures of students, as well as transporting and accompanying students to and from medical appointments off campus including emergency room visits.

This is a year-round position averaging 24-29 hours per week. Shifts are primarily 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. and include every other weekend plus a rotating holiday schedule, based on student’s needs. Potential set schedule: Week 1: Thursday - Sunday; Week 2: Thursday and Friday.

Hourly pay rate: $22.91 - 30.59 an hour (plus shift differential), pay is determined based on experience.

Qualifications:

Vocational or other technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship beyond high school required.

Valid current certification from a state approved Medical Assistant training program or equivalent required.

At least one year of experience in providing nursing aide care in a hospital, clinic or residential care facility required.

Current CPR and First Aid certifications.

OSHA trained blood-borne pathogens.

Physically able to lift and assist injured students.

Willing to support and follow school & departmental policies & procedures.

Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

Demonstrated ability to follow detailed and specific instructions accurately.

Commitment to provide high quality care to children and youth.

Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and team environment in a busy and dynamic work setting.
