Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina Community Physicians is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support outpatient care within a patient-centered, decentralized model. The CMA interviews patients, records vital signs, and assists in examinations under physician supervision.

Completion of an accredited medical assisting program and one year of patient care experience is preferred. CMA certification from AMT/AAMA/NHA/NAHP and a current BLS are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
• CMA/CMA certification from AMT, AAMA, NHA, MedCA or NAHP.
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or ARC).
• Basic computer skills and ability to input data into medical records.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height), and input data into the medical record.
• Prepare treatment rooms for examinations and assist physicians as needed.
• Communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
