Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to perform delegated clinical and administrative duties within a practice setting. You may work in both the clinical and front office, providing clerical support, patient care assistance, and collaboration with the physician/provider team.

The role requires graduation from a Medical Assistant program and applicable certification. Prior experience with electronic health records or phlebotomy is preferred, and OSF HealthCare is an Equal

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Equivalency: at least 6 months CMA experience OR on-the-job training completion.
  • Licensure: CMA/AMT/AAH/RMA/NCCT/NCMA/NAHP/NRCMA certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform delegated clinical and administrative duties as per Medical Assistant program education and experience.
  • Support both clinical and front office functions, including clerical tasks and patient care support.
  • Provide care in accordance with the physician/provider's directions and practice needs.

Education

High School Diploma or GED + Medical Assistant training program
MAs certification/licensure (CMA/AMT/AAH/RMA/NCCT/NCMA/NAHP/NRCMA)
Medical Assistant experience (6 months) or on-the-job training equivalency

Expected pay for this position is $20.41 - $24.01/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Medical Assistant will perform delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training, and experience. May work in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice providing clerical support, assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care support activities at the direction of the physician/provider. Performs the duties in accordance with the specific needs of the practice.

Qualifications
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Education: High School Diploma or GED AND Must have completed a Medical Assistant training program
    • OR Medical Assistant Training Program equivalency: at least 6 months experience in Certified Medical Assistant role OR proof of completion of on-the-job training/education program for certified medical assisting in another healthcare organization.
    • Licensure/ Certification: Current certification by ONE of the following approved certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), earning Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential American Medical Technologists (AMT) or American Allied Health (AAH), earning Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), earning a National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) credential National HealthCare Association (NHA), earning Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), earning a Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) credential
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Experience: Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with electronic health records or phlebotomy.
    • Licensure/ Certification: If working in the Rural Health Clinic setting, will be required to have BLS through the American Heart Association.
