Duke Health is seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified at the Durham OB-GYN – South Durham location to join a vitally important healthcare team in Durham, NC. The MA will provide direct and indirect patient care as part of an outpatient clinic.

The role requires MA certification and BLS; day shifts, Monday–Friday, with no weekends or holidays. A commitment bonus and relocation assistance are available for qualified candidates.

Competenze

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
• BLS certification required.
• Level I — no experience; Level II — 1 year clinical MA experience.

Mansioni

• Take patient intake including vital signs and visit information.
• Document encounters; follow clinic protocols and inform the provider.
• Administer medications as ordered or per protocol following the six rights.
• Assist providers with procedures such as Colposcopy.
• Participate in performance improvement projects.
• Prepare for clinical procedures and ensure sterilization as needed.
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment.
• Float to cover patient/provider needs as delegated.

JOB LOCATION:

Durham OB-GYN of South Durham – 234 Crooked Creek Pkwy, Durham, NC

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified at our Durham OBGYN - South location in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information as indicated.
• Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounter, follow protocols established by clinic leadership, and inform provider.
• Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration.
• Assists providers with procedures such as Colposcopy
• Participates in performance improvement projects.
• Performs tasks such as set up for clinical procedures, high level disinfection & sterilization or other miscellaneous appropriate tasks within scope of practice.
• Attain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment as indicated.
• Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
• High school or GED graduation required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
• BLS required
• Level I -- No experience required.
• Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in clinic

JOB HOURS:

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
