An established industry player is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join their float pool across multiple clinics. This role involves providing essential patient care, performing vital tasks such as EKGs, blood draws, and medication administration, while also offering clerical support to ensure smooth clinic operations. The Medical Assistant is responsible for working within a float pool at various Baylor St. Luke's Medical Group Clinics to assist with supplemental staffing. The expert level Medical Assistant demonstrates mastery in delivering patient care in the ambulatory setting, performing responsibilities and providing clerical and administrative support.
Serves as a float pool resource across designated clinics within the region.
Performs routine patient care such as vital signs, venipuncture, specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, and POCTs.
Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation, and updates records.
Notes primary complaints and reasons for visits.
Prepares instruments and equipment for providers.
Assists with procedures and administers medication under supervision.
Instructs patients on care and procedures within scope.
Maintains clinical areas, schedules tests and appointments, and conducts follow-ups.
Responds to patient communications and manages records and reports.
Manages inventory and supports regulatory compliance.
Performs roles of Office Associate/Patient Access Representative as needed.
Engages in Performance Improvement activities.
Handles clinic mail and records distribution.
Supports flexibility and dependability in a float pool role.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; current CMA or RMA certification.
Required Licensure and Certifications: Medication Aide certification if applicable; BLS or ACLS from AHA.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Proficiency in EKGs, blood draws, injections; effective communication; knowledge of procedures and medical terminology; sound judgment; positive attitude; computer skills; professionalism.
