Needs to be Certified. Bilingual not required but a plus. Some experience preferred, but we provide hands-on training. Attentive, punctual, professional. Experience in occupational health or similar healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory.

Schedule: Monday – Friday 12:00pm – 8:30pm. 30-minute lunch. Possible relocation to another clinic for coverage.

Location: Banner Occupational Health – 1st & Washington, 1 N Central Ave Suite 105, Phoenix, AZ 85004.

Day-to-day: Back-office role with cross-training for front office duties.

Clinical Tasks:

  • Conduct pre-employment physicals, vision tests, hearing tests, and other screenings.
  • Administer vaccinations like flu shots, Hepatitis B, or tetanus.
  • Perform drug and alcohol testing, including chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Assist with workers' compensation evaluations and follow-up.
  • Document vital signs and medical histories related to occupational health.
  • Set up and assist with minor procedures such as wound care or first aid.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Schedule workplace health evaluations and follow-ups.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee health data.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance and confidentiality of medical records.
  • Coordinate return-to-work clearances and fitness-for-duty exams.

Communication:

  • Educate employees on workplace safety and health initiatives.
  • Guide on preventive care related to workplace exposures.

Position Summary: Assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, implementing and evaluating patient care, using specialized knowledge and skills to ensure an excellent patient experience.

Core Functions:

  1. Prepare patients for exams by taking vital signs, recording symptoms, and documenting complaints. Report changes in patient condition to clinicians.
  2. Assist providers with exams and procedures, including blood pressure, respiration, temperature, phlebotomy, ear irrigation, and EKGs. Use universal precautions and PPE. Prioritize patient flow.
  3. Coordinate patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, prescriptions, and scheduling. Communicate test results and assist clinicians as needed.
  4. Support clerical tasks, ensuring accurate medical records and timely billing information.
  5. Maintain a clean environment, disinfect equipment, and perform basic maintenance.
  6. Order supplies, monitor inventory, and manage medication stock.
  7. Develop effective communication with all stakeholders, exemplifying service orientation and teamwork.
  8. Complete onboarding and training activities as required.
  9. Work under supervision, interacting with staff, physicians, patients, and external contacts, prioritizing patient data and health status updates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent, with knowledge from an accredited Medical Assisting Program.
  • Current BLS certification required on hire; Medical Assistant Certification required within 12 months if not already obtained.
  • Competent in CPR techniques for adults, children, and infants, every other year.
  • Strong computer skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with office medical procedures, insurance, managed care, EMR, and scheduling software.
  • Additional education or experience related to healthcare is a plus.
