Job Overview

University Physicians Association is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join UNIVERSITY GASTROENTEROLOGY, a busy specialty practice located within UT Medical Center in Knoxville.

Position Details

• Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist patients over the phone and in person, including rooming patients and gathering information for documentation.
• Instruct and educate patients on procedure preparation.
• Handle prescription refills and review medical records for urgent requests.
• Schedule tests with medical facilities and departments.
• Triaging inbound clinical care calls, assessing patient concerns, and responding per protocols.
• Document in electronic medical records according to HIPAA guidelines.
• Support clinic operations, including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and other administrative tasks.
• Provide backup support to clinical services as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• CMA or LPN licensure
