Position Summary

One of the region’s largest orthopedic and sports medicine providers, Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute’s world-class team of orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians specialize in conditions and injuries of the spine, hand, upper extremities, foot, ankle, and lower extremities, as well as joint replacement, concussions, interventional pain management, bone health, and orthopedic trauma. Position Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a key role in delivering high-quality patient care in an outpatient/ambulatory setting. Working under the supervision of a physician and lead nurse, the CMA assists with exams, procedures, documentation, and ensures a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
  • Participate in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome improvements.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients and families.
  • Collaborate with administrative and operations staff.
  • Gather patient data through interviews and observation.
  • Assist patients and families with exam preparations.
  • Support physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Demonstrate competency in assigned tasks and skills.
  • Provide routine treatments and administer approved medications.
  • Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and education per policies.
  • Assist physicians by scheduling and providing information for tests and consultations.
  • Handle calls professionally using sound clinical judgment.

Qualifications

Education/Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or at least one year of relevant work experience.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • Current certification or registration from one of the recognized agencies (list provided).
