Job summary

BMC Berkeley Medical Center in Winchester, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff. The role includes patient intake, vitals, room preparation, and procedural assistance in a busy outpatient setting.

The position requires a High School Diploma, CMA certification, and BLS within 30 days. Experience preferred; 40 hours weekly; non-exempt status and shift differentials may apply.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patient to exam rooms; obtains initial information and vital signs.
• Prepares exam rooms for patients with cleanliness and supplies.
• Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.
• Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
• Assists provider during patient examinations and procedures.
• Educates patients on follow up expectations.
• Maintains quality control testing logs as required.
• Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.

Job description

Performs basic nursing skills, and/or serves under the direction and supervision of the practice physician, advanced practice professional and/or registered nursing staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

3. Current National Certification as Certified Medial Assistant.

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.

EXPERIENCE:

1. One (1) year of healthcare experience.

Additional Job Description:

Wage Scale: $19.82 - $28.01/hour

Position is eligible for shift differentials based on shift worked and eligible for overtime pay for hours over 40 hours per week.
