Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant II to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient hematology/oncology clinic in Wakefield, Raleigh. You will work under supervision to complete rooming, data collection, and specimen processing, while assisting the provider with procedures and patient education.

The role requires MA certification and at least one year of experience; strong communication and teamwork are essential as you document information in the EMR

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is preferred but not required.
• MA certification by a recognized national organization is required or preferred.
• At least one year of full-time Medical Assistant experience is expected.
• Strong data collection, patient history taking and vitals skills.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect vital signs, height, weight and visit data.
• Collect medical and social history from patients and families.
• Review medications, allergies and pharmacy preferences.
• Assist provider during treatments, exams and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens as directed.
• Administer medications under provider supervision.
• Perform tests such as EKG and basic eye exams as directed.
• Prepare exam rooms and ensure supplies and forms are ready.
• Educate patients with after-visit instructions and resources.
• Assist with registration, scheduling and referrals as needed.
• Help maintain clinic safety and supply ordering.
