Job Description

Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure effective practice operations and excellent patient care. May work in clerical, administrative, or clinical capacities, and perform specialized tasks as needed.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers screening tools.
  2. Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
  3. Assists with clinic visits, verifies and records clinical data, and ensures adherence to quality standards.
  4. Monitors environment for accreditation compliance and evaluates practice schedules for updates.
  5. Demonstrates knowledge of the medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating holistic, patient-centered, and team-based care elements.
  6. Guides patients through the healthcare system and assists with appointment scheduling.
  7. Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation according to the care plan.
  8. Assists with patient referrals to specialists for diagnosis or treatment.
  9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • National Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Care or a related field.
  • One year of experience in healthcare services.
